Despite the government’s push for cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions, many prominent OEMs have been moving at a snail’s pace in terms of expanding their EV portfolios. This hesitancy has hindered the availability of a wide range of options for consumers and has slowed down the market’s growth potential.
Challenges such as high upfront costs, limited charging infrastructure, and range anxiety continue to deter potential EV buyers. Additionally, concerns about the longevity and maintenance costs of EV batteries persist.
To boost EV adoption, it is crucial for OEMs to accelerate their efforts in manufacturing affordable and reliable electric two-wheelers. Moreover, the government should work on creating a conducive environment by incentivizing EV production and improving charging infrastructure. Only through such concerted efforts can India hope to significantly reduce its carbon footprint and transition to cleaner mobility solutions in the long run.
