On Bengaluru’s Residency Road, Cubit Collective is quietly making a name for itself as a studio where creative vision and technical precision are inseparable. Founded by siblings Vrinda K Murthy and Vivek Yerkadithaya, the firm brings together two distinct skill sets—one steeped in design artistry, the other in operational mastery—to create interiors that don’t just look good, but feel deeply personal and function flawlessly.
Vrinda’s journey into design was born out of courage and conviction. In 2013, fresh from graduating at R.V. College, she was working in the tech sector when she realised her true passion lay elsewhere. Inspired by her mother Supriya, an established interior designer, she traded her corporate career for the world of design. From day one, her mission was clear: to blend modern, scalable solutions with the latest materials and techniques, elevating interiors from simply beautiful to effortlessly liveable. Over the years, she progressed from small-scale residential projects to sophisticated, high-end interiors that demanded not only creative ingenuity but also technical depth.
Five years ago, Vivek stepped in—an MBA graduate from the Indian School of Business with a talent for building systems and driving efficiency. While Vrinda shaped the creative vision, Vivek redefined how the business was delivered—streamlining processes, strengthening project management, and laying the groundwork for sustainable growth. Their partnership was a natural fit: one imagined, the other engineered it into reality.
In April 2023, their combined experience took official form under the brand Cubit Collective, representing over 25 years of industry insight. Their design style is rooted in Contemporary Modern Interiors with a signature biophilic integration—bringing nature into living spaces through light, greenery, and natural materials wherever possible. Even when physical integration isn’t feasible, the essence of nature’s calm and balance is woven into the design.
What makes Cubit Collective stand apart is their refusal to let bold ideas remain theoretical. In an industry where gorgeous concepts often falter during execution, Vrinda and Vivek’s engineering, manufacturing, and design expertise ensures every project is as practical as it is stunning. They invest heavily in the design phase—sometimes months—refining details until each decision aligns seamlessly with the client’s lifestyle.
Their work spans from budget-conscious homes to ultra-luxury residences, but every project shares the same personal approach. For Vrinda and Vivek, the human connection is as important as the design itself. A project especially close to their hearts was creating a new home for a couple in their late eighties and nineties—a rare and inspiring reminder that new beginnings have no age limit.
Sustainability is also central to their ethos. They believe green architecture is not a passing trend but a collective responsibility for both designers and clients. Looking ahead, their vision is to make bespoke high-end interiors accessible to the upper-middle-class market, bridging a space where quality and exclusivity meet broader reach.
Their entrepreneurial path hasn’t been without obstacles. At one stage, creative energy began to plateau—designs felt safe, ideas repetitive. Rather than accept stagnation, they disrupted their own process. They introduced internal design challenges, curated a constantly evolving “Inspiration Wall” of trends and materials, attended global exhibitions, and invited guest speakers to spark fresh thinking. They even reconfigured their own studio into collaborative zones that encouraged interaction and experimentation. This deliberate shake-up reignited creativity and restored the vibrant culture that defines Cubit Collective today.
Vrinda credits much of her professional inspiration to entrepreneur Sarah Sham, admiring her for scaling a design business with humility, authenticity, and strategic acumen. Her advice to young architects and designers is direct and enduring: “Stay curious, stay grounded, never stop learning—and above all, design with integrity.”
Today, Cubit Collective is more than an interiors brand—it is a creative partnership grounded in trust, technical excellence, and a deep respect for the people who inhabit the spaces they design. Vrinda and Vivek’s work is about more than delivering luxury; it’s about crafting spaces that evoke feeling, nurture connection, and stand the test of time. Whether designing a compact apartment or a sprawling estate, their mission remains unchanged—to create interiors that live well beyond the walls.
