In Odisha’s rural heartlands, fetching clean water once meant hours of walking, heavy pots, and the constant risk of waterborne disease. Today, for 28,000 families, safe drinking water arrives right at their doorsteps – thanks to Spring Health India.
Founded on January 11, 2010, and led by Mr. Jacob Mathew, Audrey Selian, and Sandeep Roy Chaudhary, the organisation operates 273 kiosks that provide affordable, potable water through a green, entrepreneur-driven model.
From Boardroom to Village Lanes
At 57, Sandeep reflects on his leap from corporate life to social entrepreneurship – inspired by the late Dr. Paul Polak and Chairman Jacob Mathew. The decision took a year of thought, but once made, it became a mission: deliver clean water where it’s needed most, without harming the planet.

Clean Water, Green Energy
Spring Health uses Chlorine Dioxide purification powered entirely by solar energy. Unlike RO systems, it wastes no water and preserves groundwater reserves, while delivering the same level of purity. The doorstep delivery model frees rural women from daily treks to collect water, opening up time for education, work, and family.
Impact That Flows Beyond Hydration
- Rural jobs – with 33% of kiosks run by women
- Climate action – 30,000 tonnes of carbon credits generated annually
- Health gains – fewer illnesses, more productive workdays
- Economic empowerment – steady income for local entrepreneurs

Resilience & Recognition
The journey saw months without salaries, investor reluctance, and cultural resistance to paying for water. But persistence paid off, earning Spring Health accolades such as 50 Most Impactful Leaders in Water Management (2017) and Top 10 Innovative Start-ups in Water Technology (2025).
With 600,000 Indian villages still lacking safe water, the road ahead is vast – and Spring Health is ready to travel it.
