Successfully converting her love for interior design into a career

A four-designer team proprietorship called Midas Touch launched its operations in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari neighborhood in 2016. Opening her own business was never something she considered doing; instead, she always chose a safe position where she could give her all, get paid at the end of the month, and go home. However, Ridaa Shaikh’s maternity leave altered everything; she then moved on to create her own company that specializes in space planning and interior design. She has always been creative and passionate about design; it just came naturally to her.  Her father is a cardiologist, while uncle is an IITian. Her brother is an electronics engineer with masters from the USA, as a result, she always felt the odd one out in her family. However, family was always there to support her in thick and thin and stood by her decision. Her work, which involves extensive traveling, finds support in the form of her family looking after her kid in her absence.

Midas Touch serves clients from all market categories and works within their limitations to provide a flawless finish. Money, space, furniture preservation, or other factors may be the cause. By doing this, they are able to build the home or office of their dreams without making any compromises. Previously solely available to a few groups of people, luxurious interiors are now accessible to people of all socioeconomic classes. So, for society, any one’s dream, small or big can be realized due to the use of an extensive array of materials in all price ranges, every look’s replacement and alternatives are easily available which as an agency, Midas Touch uses strategically for amazing outputs.

According to Ridaa,

“We believe – in a world where there are millions of materials available to enhance elevations, good space planning and space creations, makes an elevation look nice irrespective of the materials used to clad it.”

Midas Touch is known to turn a client’s liability into some awesome assets that become a point of discussion. For example, if there’s an upstand column that is causing hindrance to a site, it is successfully camouflaged in such a manner within the interior design scheme that the same ugly column stub projection becomes a piece of art.

She was a former associate of the renowned architect Hafeez Contractor and had fallen in love with her job and the company up until the time that she had to take maternity leave. Naturally, she has been professionally inspired by Hafeez Contractor. She has been impressed by his open office procedures and the work he puts in to keep clients content. Since she began her own business, the single task she despises but is unable to avoid is pursuing payment from clients. Though she has not faced any non-payment issues to date, this is probably one of those professional hiccups that one has to go through while being an entrepreneur. However, she initiated her business by undertaking projects with her friends and family members, and soon after, positive word of mouth started spreading. Today, she is doing most of the projects in North India and plans to expand nationally.

As a person, she is very easygoing and approachable, and she shares a good, friendly rapport with her clients. As a result, work becomes all fun; meetings are more like casual discussions over lunch. Site meetings are also casual and friendly. When asked about the essentials to start up on her own, she recalls,

“A good office space is a must, as it gives clients a positive impression.” That was my first investment, followed by computers, furniture, soft goods, and human resources in the form of creating a team of experienced designers.”

In her line of work, it is crucial to comprehend the psychology of the customer because design is a very individualized and perspective-driven area. No matter how much work you put in, if you can’t satisfy your customers, it’s all for nothing. It all comes down to leveraging our knowledge while seeing things from the client’s perspective. Midas Touch has accepted the shift and is moving forward. Today, sustainability and eco-friendly materials are fashionable. According to Ridaa, there’s no substitute for hard work, whatever Midas Touch is today, all because of her relentless hard work that has given amazing results. We wish her all the success!!
